Father's Day fullness

Later this week, I get to see my dad. And my brother, who recently became a father. Sometimes fathers don't get quite as much attention as mothers. They don't carry the pregnancy or give birth. They don't nurse. But their role is incredibly important.

Avi adores his aba. We had a full day of celebration today and we needed it after a hectic few days of running around. This morning my little boy and I combed the aisles of Whole Foods for treats Aba would enjoy for breakfast. The chocolate croissant we brought home set the tone for an indulgent day filled with good food, friends and family. Even Avi had 2 bagels today. He had a great nap at home. Leeor and I cleaned our room, which has been sadly neglected for far too long. I talked to the realtor, who had forgotten to get the deposit check from us. This process is so funny. I was so anxious yesterday, and the offer isn't officially being presented to the seller until tomorrow afternoon.

Leeor said that Father's Day, for him, was also about doing stuff around the house and showing up for his family. It was sweet. We had a decadent lunch with some friends at their parents' house and Avi received much adoration. He asked to nurse about 50 times. He started putting together the word "no" with "nurse" after a lot of repetition.

We didn't want the day to end. After lunch, we drove to SF MOMA to pick up Leeor's gift; a book by a Swiss photographer he loves. We made an impulsive decision to go to our friend's restaurant for dinner. Indulgent! More food, more wine, and Avi ate a ton of sweet potato fries. He watched, enthralled, as the chef spun sugar for the bread pudding dessert. Life continues to feel full. It's good.
Here's wishing all a wonderful Father's Day, too!
