One of our neighborhood restaurants, Chenery Park, has a family night every Tuesday so we decided to take our brood out on the town.
The plan evolved spontaneously from an afternoon walk with my kids before Leeor came home . . .he found us at the bakery (an often unavoidable detour on the way to the park--I just can't say no when Avi politely asks, "May you go to the bakery, please?) and decided to join us on our adventure. I just loved watching Avi walk next to Leeor, who was pushing his bike. We have this fantasy that in the fall, Leeor can take Avi to preschool once we put a seat on the back for him . . .
It was great fun to eat with my family in a restaurant filled with other tables where parents sat, eating calmly while toddlers rolled on the floor or ran around. Avi climbed around and was thrilled with the "beans" he found (candy machines!). Leeor obliged his wandering while I ate a fancy cheeseburger and Lilit slept in the ergo.
It's good to treat ourselves right now, especially when the cupboards are bare and the parents are tired.
